Baby Blues...jeans that is!

Baby clothes really piss me off. Why do they make these itty bitty little clothes look like adult clothes? They are uncomfortable and scratchy! And why do baby socks have tred on the bottom, it doesn't make sense. Do I really need to put a onsie under every garment, it seems like over kill with buttons, especially in the middle of the night, when we wake up in the morning, as in today at 5:00 am, the kid looks like a 5 year old tried to button him up, with buttons all miss matched and crooked.... Velcro seems like a much more user friendly material for the first time mommers. I don't know something tells me baby clothes should be comfy, soft and for God sake easy to assemble at 2:00 am. There are times when i can't help myself and the kids cuteness is so enhanced by the gear that I loose control, dress him, take a picture and then put him in something a bit more practical.

The key to this problem is to buy clothes that are practical and not cute. We, as mothers, have a tendency to make our children "look" good instead of focusing on what is important...comfort! Let me share an example. My daughter did not walk until she was almost 13 months. As a new mother, I naturally was fanatical about cleanliness. Needless to say, I had my little girl in socks at all times. She would continuously slip and fall. Naturally, she stopped trying for awhile until it clicked. I thought to myself, "leave her barefoot!" She immediately started walking. DUH! Mother's have a tendency to bundle up their pride and joys out of fear of getting sick. This is not always the best thing. There isn't a rule stating that we MUST put a onesies underneath every outfit. Food for thought! lol
P.S. This phase goes away like everything else. =)
